Bloom Mama is a wonderful non-profit based here in Cape Town, South Africa. They work incredibly hard to support mothers with young families in lower-income areas, primarily in Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain, and the Cape Flats. They rely on donations of gently used baby items from the wider Cape Town community to operate.
Their ongoing expenses include essential items like nappies, formula, blankets, wipes, and sterilizing materials. They also fairly compensate their casual workers and cover fuel costs for their delivery and pickup services. Consistent support is crucial for them to continue their vital work in reaching mothers and families who urgently need their help.
Looking forward to the 2025/2026 period, Bloom Mama’s main goal is to secure stable funding. This will allow them to fairly compensate their dedicated community leaders and casual staff who make a real difference on the ground. They also plan to further develop their Mitchell’s Plain pilot distribution center, with the aim of expanding this model to assist even more communities. Additionally, they intend to host empowering events with professional speakers for the mothers they support, providing essential support while also raising awareness about their important mission.
